A trip to triund
“We are now in the mountains and they are in us, kindling enthusiasm making every nerve quiver, filling every pore and cell of us"
Living in the second winter capital of Himachal Pradesh, Dharamshala I thought it would be every disappointing for myself if I wouldn't go for the trek of triund. So with some of the members of my friends list we made our plan of triund. The starting point of triund trek is galu, however there are many options to reach galu. Either you can hire a taxi from Mcleod Ganj till galu or you can start the trek right from Mcleod Ganj.Trek can also be started from Bhagsu Nag .We took a taxi from taxi stand of Dharamshala direct to galu, after taking really tasty breakfast up there we were all ready for the trek. The weather was amazing as always and the freshness in the air was just amazing.Triund has an unambiguous byway which goes through a beautiful mixed forest of oak, deodar and rhododendron. We thought Triund would be an off beat destination and there would not be much people but as we were walking we saw people doing trekking with us, some as groups, some individually walking and to our surprise lot of foreigner groups with their guides smiling clicking pictures and enjoying. As I was doing trek for the very first time in my life,in the beginning I was quite nervous along with happiness and excitement.
We were taking rest whenever we were feeling like; no that's it ..I can't walk now my legs are dead now. But thankfully no one give up.
After completing half of our trek we all had Maggie and a cup of tea. View from the tea stall was beautiful, clouds were seems to be totally filled with water and can start raining at anytime. At around 2:30 we reached at the top of the mountains, means we were finally at our destination. The real meaning of Haven was in front of my eyes. There was an small temple of LORD SHIVA, and few tea stalls. We can see Dhauladhar mountain ranges on the other side covered with Snow. We took a lot of pictures there.Because at night triund is better than the day so we decided to hire tent at the cost of RS 500 for two person. We find plenty of company there—stayovers at Triund are very popular, especially among foreigners.
It was really very cold up there, wind might be at the speed of 7km/h. We took Maggie as our dinner again and enjoyed the night view...the dark sky was full of stars. I really want to stare at the sky for the whole night but the cold wind didn't let me to seat there for more than half an hour. We all get packed in our respective tents. Early in the morning after taking tea we started our journey to came down, we took only 2 hours to get down.
It was a memorable trek of my life, I enjoyed it to the fullest.
